Travel stress versus relaxation: statistics on 2025 travel

When we go abroad, we expect it to be a break from everyday life, with the promise of leaving the stress of work or other commitments behind for just a week or two.

According to a recent study, 73% of Britons say the main reason they go abroad is ‘to relax’. The study also stresses the importance of travel for individuals, mental health and wellbeing. Why is it, then, that 71% of Britons reportedly feel stressed by booking a holiday in 2025?

82% of Britons say exploring a new destination falls at the top of their 2025 travel priority list. Travelling somewhere completely new can, however, also come with unique stresses, due to navigating an unfamiliar environment and culture.

The stress of planning reportedly has 46% of UK residents planning their holiday up to 18 months in advance. This is a vast amount of forward thinking – particularly when a third plan to take more holidays in 2025 than last year (at an average of 3) – with the average break lasting 12 days.

Yet still, 97% said that going on holiday is more important than ever to them; meaning despite travel stress, Brits will persist to ensure they go abroad this year.

At Emma Latham Travel, I believe holidays should be treated as a priority. If you want the stress of planning taken out of your hands while still being able to enjoy the perfect escape, get in touch with me today – and begin to truly relax before your trip even begins!
