Country in the Caribbean reaches new milestone
The Caribbean’s Grenada has reached a new major achievement, having recorded 26 consecutive months of tourism growth.
The island saw a 30% surge in visitor arrivals during early 2023, peaking at over 20,000 visitors in December. By February this year, arrivals grew by 31.7% compared to the previous year, driven in part by Grenada’s 50th Anniversary of Independence celebrations.
Key contributors to this success include the island’s improved air connectivity. JetBlue, Air Canada and WestJet now have routes to the island – and there is also the addition of luxury resorts.
Grenada’s international reputation has also strengthened through accolades from “Condé Nast Traveler” and “USA Today”, alongside the expansion of underwater attractions. The Molinere Underwater Sculpture Park and newly launched Carriacou Underwater Sculpture Park have positioned Grenada as a premier diving destination.
Media exposure has further amplified the island’s global visibility, with features on popular TV shows such as “The Fortune Hotel” and “Below Deck” reaching millions of viewers worldwide.
Randall Dolland, Chairman of the Grenada Tourism Authority, credited the island’s success to the collaboration of tourism stakeholders, cultural richness and its stunning natural beauty. The CEO of the Grenada Tourism Authority Petra Roach echoed this, highlighting Grenada’s resilience and unique appeal that continues to captivate travellers.
This consistent growth marks Grenada as a rising star in Caribbean tourism, showcasing its ability to attract visitors through strategic initiatives and a commitment to delivering exceptional experiences.
